1933 Ford 5 Window Coupe – Perry Tremblay

Featured Car for July 3, 2025
Owned by Perry Tremblay, Thorndale, Ontario

This 1933 Ford 5 Window Coupe was Perry’s first car when he was 15 and he has owned it for 52 years.

What you see pictured is the third incarnation of the car. When he was 15, Perry chopped the car with hacksaw and torches. Then, he completely rebuilt the car for the drag strip. Finally, he retired the car from the drag strip and converted it into a street car.

Perry hand-built everything, including the chassis, engine, headers and bodywork. The only things he didn’t do himself were the paint (done by Tim Kellerman) and interior (done by Dave Pitchers of Classic Auto Upholstery).

The motor currently in the car is the same one he drag raced with, except for the 12.5:1 pistons which he swapped for 10.5:1, so he could drive it on the road. The car achieved low tens on the drag strip with its 1965 Chevy 396 V8 engine, boasting a solid lifter cam and a 4 barrel Holley carburetor. Connecting all that power to the wheels is a GM 350 Turbo HydraMatic 3-speed transmission, a 9-inch Ford rear axle with a spool, and Baer disc brakes all around.
