In 2018, Jason purchased this 1987 Buick Regal Grand National from its original owner, who actually daily-drove it for a number of years on his commute bewteen Mississauga and London.
The car had been off the road, in storage, from 2003 to 2018 because of a worn-out camshaft. According to Jason, the original owner is a good friend and when he became tired of storing the car, he asked Jason to make him an offer.
Since Jason bought the car, he has fixed the camshaft issue and while rebuilding the engine, installed many of the engine compartment chrome parts which had been stored in a box in the trunk. While Jason has added an after-market air filter, a bigger fuel injector and an updated ECU, 90% of the car is stock.
The original fuel-injected, 3.8 litre V-6 engine was turbo-charged and produced 245 hp and 355 ft-lb of torque. Delivering power to the rear wheels is a 4-speed automatic transmission with a solid rear axle with GM Positraction. The brakes are front disc/rear drum.
In the early ’90s the car was in a rear end accident. At the same time the accident repairs were done, the car was completely repainted in its original black. Both the dash and the wheels have been replaced. The a/c, power steering and cruise control all work as original.
